A Dossan of Heather was originally published as a book/CD set.
It is now available
only as an eBook, which comes with a link to "online audio".
The CD (or audio) contains a selection of
tunes from the collection, played with simple but tasteful arrangements
by Jean Duval & Stephen Jones on whistles, flute and fiddle, with harp,
guitar and piano accompaniment by Joanne St-Laurent, Golo Görner and Lynda Dowker.
We were not able to include examples of Packie's own distinctive and highly
skilled whistle playing, as he has to all intents and purposes stopped playing as
a result of severe arthritis in his hands. However, we have endeavoured to remain
true to Packie's own style and ornamentation. Even though it's not "the real thing",
we hope it will provide enjoyable listening as well as serving as an aid
to learning the tunes.
